COMPETITION RULES

  • Minimum fish length for competition entry 35 cm.
  • All contestants must pay festival entry fees prior to fishing.
  • Each entrant must weigh in own fish. All fish to be recorded in at point of registration.
  • Entrants may weigh in their fish, at ANY of the above weigh in centers – Regardless of where they entered.
  • All contestants will fish in accordance with the NSW Laws & Regulations governing fishing.
  • Contestants must nominate categories on their nomination entry form. N.B. Prizes can be won in open categories and lucky draw.  All fish entered by the competitor must have been taken in the method as indicated on his/her entry form.
  • The Committee reserves the right to disqualify any contestant or refuse entry to any person.
  • Committee decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Fishing waters available are all public waters within the Snowy River Shire boundaries and including 3 Mile Dam. Excluding all private lakes and dams or commercial fish farms. Fish eligible will be rainbow and brown trout.
  • All fish must be gutted and gilled before weigh-in.
  • No tagged fish are eligible for this competition.
  • 6pm daily weigh-in cut-off time – Fish weighed-in after 6pm each day (excluding the final day) will be entered in the next day’s results.
  • Juniors must be 16 years of age and under to enter the junior category. Junior entrants are only entitled to Junior category prizes.
  • All holiday prizes to be taken as per conditions on prize letters to be given to winners.
  • All daily & weekly prize winners must make arrangements with Weigh-in Centre of entry, to collect prizes within 30 days.
  • All club team fish must be weighed in at point of registration.
  • The Committee reserves the right to retain any fish entered in the competition for possible biological testing.
  • Entrants must be present at the presentation to be eligible for the Prizes in the attendance draw.

All rules are in compliance with the Snowy lakes management Strategy monitored by NSW Fisheries in the interest of maintaining quality angling for the future of these important fisheries.

There will be a major tackle prize for the largest rainbow and largest brown trout under each category as follows.

Trolling:  – Largest Rainbow Trout, Largest Brown Trout.
Spinning:  – Largest Rainbow Trout, Largest Brown Trout.
Bait fishing:  – Largest Rainbow Trout, Largest Brown Trout.
Fly-fishing: – Largest Rainbow Trout, Largest Brown Trout
Juniors:  – Largest Rainbow Trout, Largest Brown Trout.
Clubs/Teams: – Largest Rainbow Trout: Largest Brown Trout.

You are only required to weigh in one fish of each species each day throughout the week under each category that you have nominated on your entry form. You can also enter in each of the different categories at a cost of $50.00 for the first category and $40 per each additional category.

There will be daily secret cash prizes for the “Secret weight” category, this will be the two fish weighed into your nominated category each day (i.e. one brown and one rainbow trout).

The Committee hopes that these changes are well received and go towards improving the event and help in conserving the resource for the future.
